BAREonline Uses QCA assessment materials for the Foundation Stage (including Foundation Stage Profile), P Scales and National Curriculum Levels 1-5. No software installation is needed, BAREonline will run on any PC or laptop with an Internet connection and will require negligible support from schools' IT support staff. Pupil information is held securely on a server supported by staff at the CYPS, Bristol City Council. BAREonline has been designed by teachers to provide a user-friendly, simple but effective recording and assessment system for use by teachers in the classroom. It also provides managers with opportunities to track and compare pupil progress. An extensive bank of exemplar activities have been written for the P scales and National Curriculum Levels 1-3 to aid moderation of assessments. These are accessed in the same way in all screens. Clicking on the descriptor brings the exemplar statements on screen in a pop-up box which can be printed if necessary. They make use of nationally available example materials as well as many good practice examples written by teachers in Plymouth schools. We continue to upgrade these examples and welcome ideas from users at any time. We use colours to demonstrate attainment over time. 3 colours are used to show this year's progress (red), last year's progress (orange) and past years' progress (yellow). In this way, teachers and staff are able to look at a screen and quickly judge the rates of attainment over time. This is an essential tool for self-evaluation processes and provides high quality information in an easily accessed, visual way. Assessment The following list of QCA assessment schedules are included within BAREonline. More assessments will be added over time. These will include assessment frameworks for pupils working below the level of the EYFS materials, for pupils working at P1-3, for pupils with a range of specific disabilities including visual and hearing impairment. These provisions can be named, explained, costed, and allocated in the system. The ability to set entry and exit criteria are also options. This is an example of one of the assessment screens. In line with QCA assessment guidelines, once a descriptor has been achieved on 3 non-consecutive dates, this descriptor is judged to have been achieved. At this point, the user enters the date. |

An overview of attainment can be seen across the core subjects. Darkest greens show the levels where the pupil has secure attainment while lighter greens show where pupils are working within a level. The use of colour enables teachers to have a visual overview of attainment which is quickly interpreted and can be used to discuss attainment in a range of situations. |

A detailed map of attainment in each subject strand is available to show where there are gaps in learning or skills. This is helpful for subject and class teachers for checking the attainment of their pupils for national assessment purposes. It may also highlight areas where general understanding amongst a cohort is not well developed and point to areas of the curriculum which may require additional attention. |
